The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on August 13, 2026, issued circular on Discontinuation of the Separate Window for Open Market Buybacks.
This refers to Chapter 4.9 (Open Market Buy Back) under Exchange circular NSE/CMTR/73927 dated April 28, 2026, read with SEBI (Buy-Back of Securities) Regulations, 2018 (amended July 6, 2026), enclosed as Annexure.
Pursuant to these SEBI Regulations, the separate open market buyback window will be discontinued with effect from August 01, 2026.
Members undertaking buyback transactions must now use the normal Unique Client Code (UCC) for order entry. It is specifically advised that UCCs beginning with "BUYBACK***" or simply "BUYBACK" should not be used for buyback order entry going forward.
